Interview with Lisa from BaileyBowls

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Lisa. I live near Berkeley California. My shop name is "BaileyBowls" and I make and sell whimsical yet functional ceramics.

What makes you became an artist?

I studied Architecture in college but I do software for a living. In order to keep one foot in the arts, I paint and create things with my hands such as ceramics. It keeps me sane. :)

When did you start selling at ETSY?

I started selling at ETSY on Feb 2007. Just celebrated my 3 year anniversary and it has been a fun ride.

What is your favourite product from your shop and why?

My favorite product is a tie between my BaileyWare - which is a line of pottery dedicated to my dog (

My dog is my inspiration and these pieces are enjoyed by many dog lovers. Although the berry bowls are labor intensive, I love being surprised at how different each piece is when I unload the kiln. All of my friends have a set of these berry bowls and they've become an integral part of the kitchen.

How do you promote your work?

I promote my work in the ETSY forums, my blog, flickr, facebook, twitter...sometimes ads through Project Wonderful.

Where else can we find your products other than ETSY?

My work is also at a local gallery.
